・ヒグマの知能
　漢字で「能ある四つ肢」となる熊は、昔からハンターたちに利口な動物といわれてきた。　　　　　　　　　　

・ 　先回りしたり、止め肢を使い、時には樹上から獲物を狙うこともある。
・ 　人里に現れる時は、夕闇に紛れることが多く、体を巧みに隠したり、接近する時には物音を立てない。
・ 　記憶力も良く、危険な目にあった場所は避けたり、隠した獲物の場所は決して忘れない。
・ 　ウシやウマを襲っても完全に殺さず、背負いながら後肢で歩かせながら運ぶことがある。
・ 　獲物の防腐法や貯蔵法を知っており、時には水中貯蔵をすることがある。
・ 　銃痕にヨモギやササなどを詰め込んで、止血することがある。
・ 　復讐心や執着心が非常に旺盛である。　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　
ヒグマによる過去の事故では、１度襲って殺したヒトの死体をヒトに取り返され、その翌日自分の獲物と認識しているその死体を、
お通夜が行われている時に奪い返しに来た。
